Is weapon focus worth it in Pathfinder? ›

If your not a melee oriented combatant, don't worry about it. Use the best weapon available to the best of your ability as needed. If you are a melee oriented combatant, have a build in mind and stick to it. It's generally not worth spending a precious feat on Weapon Focus more than once for each character.

Weapon Focus (Combat)

Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus on all attack rolls you make using the selected weapon. Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of weapon.

Greater Weapon Focus grants +1 bonus which stacks with Weapon Focus +1 bonus for a total +2 bonus which stacks with other bonuses. Also, it grants access to Greater Weapon Specialization which grants +2 bonus to damage for a total of +4 damage with selected weapon with regular Weapon Specialization.

The weapon focus effect (WFE) occurs when a weapon distracts eyewitnesses, harming memory for the perpetrator and other details. One explanation is that weapons are unusual in most contexts, and unusual objects distract eyewitnesses.

Weapon focus refers to the decreased ability to give an accurate description of the perpetrator of a crime by an eyewitness because of attention to a weapon present during that crime. In the first experiment, subjects viewed a mock crime scene in which a weapon was either highly visible or mostly hidden from view.

Fatal: The fatal trait includes a die size. On a critical hit, the weapon's damage die increases to that die size instead of the normal die size, and the weapon adds one additional damage die of the listed size.

You gain the ability to perceive the target when it is invisible or ethereal as though using the see invisibility spell, and receive a +20 competence bonus on Perception checks to locate the target.

Humans are a good safe bet for a favored enemy early game. Undead are also okay. As for favored terrain, select underground early game, and first world (fey realm) later on. As you may have guessed, fey are also an important choice as a favored enemy type.

Choices Matter.

Kingmaker is a game where you make a million choices, both as an adventurer and as a ruler. They matter. Like Dragon Age (and unlike Mass Effect) choosing it isn't always obvious which is the “best” option. In some ways I feel the choices were more quantity than quality.

Max Dex Bonus is the limitation of how much the wearer can apply his Dexterity Bonus to his AC. For example, if a character has a Dexterity score of 20, he would have a Dex Modifier of +5. However, if his armor has a max Dex Bonus of 3, then he can only apply +3 to his AC.

As the original rules of Pathfinder are round based, there is a system to determine the order in which combatants are allowed to take action. This is especially important to determine if a combatant has been caught Flat-Footed. At the start of a battle, each combatant makes an initiative check.

Musket: The Musket Master makes the Musket a truly fantastic option. It has the highest damage of any non-cannon firearm, good range, and it's fairly reliable. Without the Musket Master archetype, you will spend a lot of time reloading, so a Pistol may be a better option.

Weapons Affected by Focus

Improves charging speed of the great sword's charged slashes. The Long Sword's Spirit Gauge fills faster. Increases charge level speed time.

Being proficient in a weapon doesn't make it an arcane focus. Which foci your class has access to is listed in their class description in the Players Handbook. Wizards use Arcane Foci, which are: Crystals, Rods, Wands, Staffs and Orbs.
