Beaches
One of La Paz's most popular attractions are it's beaches. There are 10 public beaches that line the shores of La Paz. All of the beaches offer soft white sand and crystal blue waters. The best beaches to relax and sunbathe are located on the road to Pichilingue. Puerto Balandra boasts eight unspoiled bays with spectacular beaches and is home to La Paz famous mushroom rock. Most beaches offer palapas, restrooms, showers and some offer restaurants and camping areas.

Isla Cerralvo
Cerralvo Island is an is an uninhabited island located southeast of Espiritu Santo. Considered by many to be among the top five fishing spots in the world, due to the two massive deep-water channels that funnel huge schools of fish. The waters around the island are rich with Grouper, Broadbill Swordfish, Marlin, Sailfish, and other big game fish. To the north of the island is a vast area of coral reef suited for diving.

Isla Espi­ritu Santo
Holy Spirit Island is one of the largest islands in Baja and is located about 3 miles from La Paz. Isla Espiritu Santo has been protected since 1978; it is one of the most biologically diverse marine areas in the world. The island has the most intact ecosystem in the region. Several animals on Isla Espiritu Santo are found nowhere else in the world. This area is very popular with divers, kayakers and anglers.

Isla Partida
Partida Island is one of the two islands that join together to form Isla Ispiritu Santo. Espiritu Santo and Isla Partida get separated at high tide but joined together by an isthmus when the water recedes. This island is a popular dive spot with several wrecks to explore as well as seven species of whales, sharks, manta rays and others marine life. Isla Partida is popular with kayakers and anglers.

Catedral de Nuestra Senora de La Paz
Cathedral de Nuestra Senora de la Paz at the corner of Revolucion and 5 de Mayo. This is the main church in town, Cathedral de Nuestra Senora de la Paz - Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace. The cathedral, built in 1861, replaces the original mission built by Jesuit missionaries in 1720. Across the street from the cathedral is the Plaza Constitucion. Inside there is only one photo of the original Mission and a couple of books that have survived.

La Paz Herpetarium
Founded by Alan Black, the La Paz Herpetarium is an open air facility that houses various species of reptiles that inhabit the Baja peninsula. This is an excellent place to view scorpions, snakes, iguanas, lizards, spiders and others. La Paz Herpetarium purpose is to inform and also to stimulate ecological awareness among visitors, with the aim of helping preserve the species.

La Paz Sculptures
All along the Malecon there are several bronze sculptures. These sculptures stand between 5 and 11 feet and are sculpted by famous artist Octavio Gonzalez from Tepatitlan, Jalisco. Cast in bronze on the mainland, the statues include a breaching whale, an in-flight Manta and mermaid playing with a dolphin, and the most popular one "Christ of the Sea" His works are available in miniature at many local art galleries.

Las Californias Aquarium
Located in the beach area of El Caimancito is the Las Californias Aquarium. The aquarium was developed to bring cultural awarness to the various marine life in the Baja Peninsula. There are between 300 and 400 marine species housed for exhibition to the public, see marine turtles, lobsters, there is also a flora and fauna display. Las California Aquarium is open to the public Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Malecon
Alvaro Obregon Boardwalk also known as La Paz's Malecon is a newly renovated 3 mile walkway that extends from the northwest side of Paseo Alvaro Obregon to Calzada 5 de Febrero. The Malecon is where one would find the city's best restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, bars and specialty shops. There are several bronze sculptures, including the eye-catching Christ of the Sea located along La Paz Malecon. Take are quiet stroll or relax and enjoy the sunsets on one of the benches.

Museo de Antropologia
This well designed museum is located at Calle 5 de Mayo and Altamirano. The Museo de Antropologia offers three floors of exhibits displaying prehistoric fossils, maps, rock paintings archeological, anthropological, mineral and historical items collected on the Baja peninsula. They have a small gift shop where you can purchase books and other historical gifts. There is a library located next to the museum.

Mushroom Rock
Located on the beach of Playa Balandra is the famous Mushroom Rock or often referred to as El Hongo by the locals. This rock formation has become a landmark and is seen on many postcards depicting the beauty of La Paz. The rock formation is easily found and is located about 11 miles from downtown La Paz. The Mushroom Rock is best viewed at low tide. On higher tides it is difficult to get up close to view the amazing but peculiar rock formation.

Plaza Constitucion - Jardin Velazco
Jardin Valazco is located in the center of the city between Avenida Independencia and Calle 5 de Mayo, Revolution de 1910 and Madero. This area is also known as the Zocalo, offering garden areas, benches, fountain and is surrounded a number of important old buildings that form a significant part of the heritage of the people of La Paz. Jardin Valazco is a common meeting place for locals and tourists.

Sierra de La Laguna
The Sierra de la Laguna is a mountain range on the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico. The dry forests of Sierra de la Laguna are home to some 224 species of plants, half the reptiles and amphibians in the entire Cape Region. UNESCO has designated the Sierra de la Laguna a global biosphere reserve. This semi arid to temperate subhumid climate area represents highly important and contrasted ecosystems.

Unidad Cultural Profesor Jesus Castro Agundez
Located at the corner of Gomes Farias and Legaspy is home to the Teatro de la Ciudad. La Paz Theater is a 1,500 seat performing arts center. Throughout the year the La Paz City Theater host musical and theatrical presentations. This area also offers an art gallery, a children's library, the Prof. Filemon C. Pineda public library, The grey whale museum and a children's playground.

Whale Watching in La Paz
Every winter, the grey whale heads 6,000 miles south to the warmer lagoons of Baja in January, February and March. Their main reason for heading south is to mate and give birth in the protected shallow lagoons in Baja. La Paz is a good place to view these magnificent creatures. Gray whales are known to make a lively show, being naturally curious and social. The whales like to show off their young and sometimes even getting close enough to be petted.
